Women's Golf Finishes Third In Troy Women's Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Southern Miss women's golf team fired a second round score of 312 and finished third overall in the 2005 Troy Women's Invitational, Tuesday, at the Lagoon Park Golf Club here in Montgomery, Ala.
The Lady Eagles improved on their first round score by a collective two strokes with the second-best team round of the day. New Orleans took the team title with a 306-311-617, while South Alabama was second with a 309-313--622. Following the top three, Belmont finished fourth with a 317-323--640, and host Troy was fifth overall with a 322-319--641.
Johanna Kristiansson and Ashlea Deener both fired a 76 to tie for the low round of the day for the Lady Eagles. Kristiansson finished the two-day event with a total of 154 and was tied for fifth, while Deener had a total of 156 to finish tied for 10th. Jennifer Bodemann ended the tournament with a 73-88-161 to tie for 21st, while both Helena Backlund and Nicole Mackey finished tied for 26th with identical performances of 83-80--163.
With the third-place finish, Southern Miss posted its best overall performance of the fall season, which included four tournaments overall.
