Southern Miss Opens Conference USA Play

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss Lady Eagles are set to open Conference USA play against TCU on Friday at 7 p.m. in Reed Green Coliseum. This is the C-USA opener for both teams.
Southern Miss (5-7) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 74-65 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Monday night. Dianca Jones led the Lady Eagles with a career-high 24 points with Shannon Stueber adding 21 points. Southern Miss had only 16 turnovers for the game.
Stueber continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 14.4 points, while Deondra Carter is averaging 12.3 points. Kimberly Rigg leads the team in rebounding at 7.0 rebounds per game. The Lady Eagles are averaging 54.7 points and 37.2 rebounds. Southern Miss is shooting 38.7 percent from the field and 73.4 percent from the free throw line. The team has connected on 24-of-94 three-pointers.
TCU (9-5) is riding a two-game winning streak, following a 60-42 win over Texas-Arlington on Jan. 2. Sandora Irvin posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
