? The Lady Eagle basketball team dropped a 90-63 decision to No. 17 ranked DePaul before 613 Sunday in Reed Green Coliseum.
With the win, DePaul improves to 15-3 overall, 4-1 in Conference
?Congratulations to DePaul,? Southern Miss Head Basketball Coach Joye Lee-McNelis said. ?They can shoot it and they have good post players. They were the most balanced team we?ve faced all year. They?re a lot better than us and we were out-matched.
?We continue to improve in taking care of the basketball,? McNelis said. ?But I don?t think our team played with a lot of fire today.?
The Lady Eagles fell behind by 11, 19-8, at the 13:16 mark in the first half, but were able to cut the lead to 30-21, on a jumper with Kelsey Gurganus at the 7:06 mark, as the Blue Demons led 48-27 at halftime.
In the second half, Southern Miss got within 21, 63-42 on two free throws from Shannon Stueber, but could not get closer.
Stueber led the Lady Eagles with a game-high 20 points, while Dianca Jones added 12 and Liz Biland contributed 10.
DePaul placed five players in double-digit scoring, including three players, Jenna Rubino, Allie Quigley and Caprice Smith with 16 points each. Jenni Dant had 15 points, while Khara Smith added 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Blue Demons out-shot the Lady Eagles 59.1 to 40.4 percent, also holding a 36-27 edge in rebounding.
