WJNT Joins Southern Miss Network
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The new home for Southern Miss football and basketball in Jackson is WJNT NEWSTALK 1180 following an announcement today by the station and ISP Sports, the exclusive multimedia rightsholder for Southern Miss Athletics.
As part of the growing Southern Miss ISP Sports Network, WJNT will carry all live play-by-play broadcasts of Golden Eagle football and men?s basketball games during the upcoming season, as well as "Golden Eagle Hotline," the popular weekly call-in show featuring head football coach Jeff Bower and new head basketball coach Larry Eustachy during their respective seasons.
"WJNT NEWSTALK 1180 is proud and excited to be the home of Golden Eagle football and basketball for the 2004-2005 season," Thena Gunn, general manager of WJNT since 1993, says.
"The Southern Miss Network is an excellent addition to WJNT?s exceptional program line-up which includes ?The Godfather of Talk? Rush Limbaugh. We are looking forward to serving the Golden Eagle fans in our market throughout the upcoming year."
Excitement surrounding Southern Miss Athletics is at an unprecedented high with Bower?s football program coming off a Conference USA championship in 2003 and the men?s basketball program now under the direction of Eustachy, the 2000 national coach of the year.
"We are pleased with the addition of NEWSTALK 1180 to our network and the Southern Miss family," Owen Shull, general manager of the ISP Sports Hattiesburg office, says. "There is a great base of Southern Miss fans in Jackson, and we know that they will be enthusiastic in their support of WJNT."
Based in Winston-Salem, NC, ISP Sports is entering its fifth year as the exclusive marketing partner for the Golden Eagles. In addition to managing the athletic program?s radio network, the company handles sales and production for television programming, game programs and the official athletic department newspaper, signage in university athletic facilities, and the official athletic website www.SouthernMiss.com.
