Baseball Ranked As High As No. 18 By NCBWA HATTIESBURG, Miss. ?
The Golden Eagles finished with a 5-0 record for the week after defeating Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday, 10-3, and Wednesday, 11-5. Southern Miss won the Cox Communications/Lake Area Classic hosted by McNeese State over the weekend, defeating Indiana State on Friday, 3-1, Oklahoma State on Saturday, 21-5, and 6-5 in 10 innings over host, McNeese State.
Tulane (10-3) is ranked No. 11, East Carolina (12-3) is No. 24 and UAB (10-2) is No. 33. Houston and USF are receiving votes.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday at Alabama at 6:30 p.m., and then host Eastern Illiois for a three-game weekend series at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field. Friday?s game starts at 6:30 p.m., Saturday?s at 3 p.m., and Sunday?s at 1 p.m.
