Baseball Ranked As High As No. 19 In Latest Polls HATTIESBURG, Miss. ?
Southern Miss, (14-2), just completed a three-game weekend sweep of Eastern Illinois (10-3, 12-0, 11-0), including Saturday?s dramatic nine-inning no-hitter fired by Golden Eagle junior pitcher Cliff Russum, a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week.
Earlier in the week, USM dropped a 9-3 decision at Alabama.
Tulane is ranked No. 14 by Baseball America, No. 16 by the Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll and No. 17 by Collegiate Baseball, marking the highest-ranked team in Conference USA. East Carolina is ranked No. 18 by Baseball America, No. 22 by Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll and No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball.
Southern Miss hosts Southeastern Louisiana in a midweek game on Tuesday at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field at 6:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles start defense of their regular season and tournament titles this weekend with a three-game home series against Houston. Friday's game starts at 6:30 p.m., Saturday's at 3 p.m., and Sunday's at 1 p.m
