Southern Miss Accepts Bid For Wyndham New Orleans Bowl HATTIESBURG, Miss. ?
"We're excited to be participating in a bowl game for the seventh time in the past eight seasons," Richard Giannini, Southern Miss Director of Athletics said. "Golden Eagle fans enjoy the city of New Orleans, and they will enjoy our first-ever appearance in this outstanding bowl game. The close proximity to New Orleans gives our fans another chance to come support the football team and we're looking forward to it."
This marks the first-ever appearance in the New Orleans Bowl and seventh bowl appearance in the past eight years for the Golden Eagles. Last season, Southern Miss made an appearance in the AXA Liberty Bowl.
"The players and coaching staff deserve a lot of credit for earning the invitation to the New Orleans Bowl, our third-straight bowl invitation and seventh in the past eight years," said Jeff Bower, Southern Miss Head Football Coach. "The players are excited to have another opportunity to play in front of the Golden Eagle fans. We are really looking forward to playing against a very good North Texas team in the Wyndham New Orleans Bowl."
