There were 32,422 in attendance tonight, the 10th best crowd in M.M. Roberts Stadium history. It was the largest Conference
Southern Miss converted on three fourth down conversions tonight and have converted on fourth down conversions for the second consecutive game.
Southern Miss recorded a safety in tonight?s contest, the first since recording one in the 2003 season opening game at California (8-30-03).
Damion Carter scored his first rushing touchdown of the season tonight, a one-yard run in the second quarter.
Starting quarterback Damion Carter made his fourth career start at quarterback tonight, as he completed 6-of-9 passes for 84 yards in tonight?s game, the third and fourth touchdown passes of his career, the first two touchdown passing performance of his career. Carter?s 84 passing yards were the most since he threw for 143 yards against
John Eubanks returned a punt of 51 yards tonight, the longest of his career.
Sherron Moore recorded his second touchdown of the season tonight, also his second career score, on an 8-yard run in the second quarter.
Anthony Harris finished with two touchdowns tonight, the first time he has rushed for two touchdowns since last season?s TCU game (11-30-03).
Junior wide receiver Antwon Courington caught two passes for 30 yards tonight, a four yard reception from Damion Carter. It was the third touchdown of the season for Courington and the sixth of his career. Courington has now caught a pass in 16 consecutive games.
The Golden Eagle defense has now forced at least one stop on an opponent fourth down attempt in seven straight games, dating back to Southern Miss? Dec. 31, 2003 Liberty Bowl game against Utah. The defense has held opponents to 2-of-10 on fourth down conversions this season.
Senior linebacker Michael Boley had 11 tackles tonight, including five for a loss and two sacks. Boley now has 20 career double digit tackle games.
Antoine Cash finished with four total tackles for a loss, including three for a loss and two sacks. He also had a 62-yard fumble return. Cash now has at least two tackles for a loss in every game this season.
For the third consecutive game, Southern Miss lost the coin toss in today?s game, receiving the ball on offense first. Southern Miss had previously won its first three coin tosses of the season and deferred all three to the second half.
Junior kickoff returner John Eubanks had his second career punt return today, a three-yard return in the second quarter.
Quarterback Jeremy Young finished with a new career high in passing yards tonight. Young completed 2-of-3 passes for 35 yards, including a career long pass of 26 yards to Antwon Courington.
Freshman Cody Hull saw action at the running back position for the second time in his career today.
