It was the first loss of the season for Southern Miss, as the team falls to 4-1 on the campaign.
Sophomore quarterback Damion Carter made his third career start today, but finished by completing 5-of-20 passes for 16 yards, including a long pass of 12 yards on the night. Freshman quarterback Jeremy Young saw his first action of his career late in the fourth quarter, as he finished by completing 1-of-3 passes for seven yards.

On Alabama?s ensuing possession, the Crimson Tide took the first lead of the game on a 45-yard field goal by Brian Bostick, taking a 3-0 lead with 6:25 to play in the first quarter.

Senior Michael Boley finished with 11 tackles to tie for the team, his 19th double-figure performance of his career. Senior Antoine Cash also finished with 11 tackles to tie Boley for game-high honors. Junior Trevis Coley had his second interception of the season in the fourth quarter, the fifth of his career.
Junior wide receiver Antwon Courington extended his games with a catch streak to 15, while senior DaRon Lawrence has now caught a pass in 11 straight games.
