Lady Eagles Host Tulane in C-USA Opener

Southern Miss ran its record to 12-1, following a 73-64 win over UNO on Jan. 7. UNO was the first team to score 60 or more points against the Lady Eagles this season. Denise Wilson came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with a season-high 21 points. Deondra Carter and Lotte Hulshof added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Carter continues to lead Southern Miss in scoring at 12.8 points per game, while Michelle Poindexter leads the team in rebounding at 8.0 rebounds. As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 62.8 points and 41.0 rebounds per game, while holding its opponents 49.7 points and 33.0 rebounds per game.
Tulane is 7-6 after a 59-56 win over
Southern Miss and Tulane have played 49 times, dating back to the 1976-77 season. Southern Miss leads the series 27-22 and this is the 50th meeting between the two teams. Tulane won the initial meeting between the two teams before Southern Miss won the next four meetings. From 1983 to 1998, the Lady Eagles won 20 of the 33 games. Tulane has won nine of the last 10 meetings, including the last six.
