Southern Miss to Host NCAA Regional
The University of Southern Mississippi has been selected as one of 16 sites that will serve as a host venue for an NCAA Regional in the 57th annual NCAA Division I Baseball championship next weekend. The four-team regional will be at Pete Taylor Park from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1. Four teams will participate in the double-elimination tournament.
The 16 regional sites, with host institutions and records through May 24, are as follows: Tempe, Arizona (Arizona State, 49-12); Auburn, Alabama (Auburn, 40-19); Fullerton, California (California State, Fullerton, 43-13); Tallahassee, Florida (Florida State, 50-9-1); Atlanta, Georgia (Georgia Tech, 41-16); Long Beach, California (Long Beach State, 38-18); Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Louisiana State, 40-18-1); Coral Gables, Florida (Miami, Fla., 39-14-1); Starkville, Mississippi (Mississippi State, 40-18-1); Lincoln, Nebraska (Nebraska, 44-16); Wilson, North Carolina (North Carolina State, 42-15); Houston, Texas (Rice, 47-10); Hattiesburg, Mississippi (Southern Miss, 44-14); Palo Alto, California (Stanford, 40-15); Austin, Texas (Texas, 42-17); College Station, Texas (Texas A&M, 43-17). All regionals are campus sites except North Carolina State (Fleming Stadium in Wilson, North Carolina) and Arizona State (Diablo Stadium in Tempe).

REGIONAL ALL TOURNAMENT PASSES
All tournament passes will go on sale starting Monday, May 26 at 8 a.m. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Southern Miss Ticket Office in the Pat Ferlise Center (West Fourth Street & Sunset Drive on USM campus), by calling the ticket office at (601) 266-5418 or 1-800-844-8425, by faxing orders to (601) 266-6529, or online at www.SouthernMiss.com. 2003 baseball season ticket holders will have until Tuesday, May 27 at 5 p.m., to renew their season locations for the Regional Tournament. Ticket prices are $50 for Regional All-Session tickets.
REGIONAL SINGLE GAME TICKETS
Individual game tickets, if available, will go on sale Thursday, May 29. Individual game ticket prices for the Regional Tournament are $10 for reserved chairbacks, $8 for adult general admission and $5 for youth (ages 14 and under) general admission and USM students with ID. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Southern Miss Ticket Office in the Pat Ferlise Center (West Fourth Street & Sunset Drive on USM campus) or online at www.SouthernMiss.com. Single game phone sales for the regional must be placed by calling Ticketmaster at (601) 268-8948.
WILL CALL
Phone, fax, and internet ticket purchasers may pick up their pre-paid Regional Tournament tickets at the ticket office, located at the Ferlise Center, beginning on Thursday, May 29. Will call will be moved to the will call gate (located just west of the box office) at Pete Taylor Park on Friday, May 30 at 1 p.m. Proper identification must be presented to receive tickets from will call.
RIGHT FIELD ROOST
Those with Roost season passes (excluding alternate spots) for the 2003 season will have the first opportunity to purchase passes for a potential NCAA Regional and Super Regional. The cost for each spot will be $200 and will include two All-Session tickets. 2003 Roost members will have until noon on Friday, May 23, to purchase their spot for the regional. Please call (601) 266-5281. Those with alternate Roost passes for the 2003 season will have the next priority to purchase spots.
NCAA BASEBALL TOURNAMENT GAMES AT AWAY SITES
In the event the Golden Eagles go on the road for a Super Regional, or qualify for the College World Series, a limited number of all-tournament tickets will be available to Golden Eagle fans through the Southern Miss Ticket Office. Super Regional orders should be placed on Monday, June 2, and the College World Series on Monday, June 9. Priority will be given to current Eagle Club members and 2003 baseball season ticket holders.
The selection of Southern Miss as a host site marks the fourth time in the last five years that a Conference USA school has played host to an NCAA Regional. Houston hosted regionals in 1999 and 2000 and Tulane served as a host site in 2001. This will be the first time in school history that Southern Miss has played host to an NCAA Regional.
The entire field of 64 NCAA teams, the top-eight national seeds and first-round regional pairings will be announced at 11:30 a.m. Central time, Monday, May 26, during a live, half-hour program on ESPN2. The committee will set the entire bracket through both the super regionals and the first round of the Men?s College World Series. The committee will not reseed the field after play begins. Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced during a telephonic press conference at 11 a.m. Central time, Monday, June 2,
Thirty Division I conferences receive an automatic berth in the field of 64, along with 34 at-large selections.
The 57th College World Series begins play Friday, June 13, at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.
