Eagle Golfers Are Fourth At Louisiana Classics Event
Lafayette, La. -- Southern Miss continued its strong men's spring golf showing with an opening day, two-round score of 291-294--585, good enough for fourth place after 36-holes in the Louisiana Classics event being hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette and played at the 7,002-yard, par-72 Oakbourne Country Club course.
SMU recorded an eight-under-par 281-287--568 and sits atop the leaderboard after 36-holes of the 54-hole event. Tulsa is four shots back after shooting 295-277--572, Texas A&M is in third (290-284--574) and North Texas rounds out the top five (299-287--586).
Teams will use a shotgun start at 8 a.m., for Tuesday's final 18-hole round.
Tulsa's David Inglis is atop the leaderboard after shooting a 7-under-par 70-67--137 total today. Southern Miss' Shane Rushing led Golden Eagle golfers with a 2-under-par 72-70--142 total and is tied for the number six spot. Other Golden Eagles and their scores include Matt Wofford tied for 23rd at 70-76--146, Michael Soroka tied for 35th at 78-71--149, Justin Emil tied for 43rd at 73-77--150, and Justin Elliott tied for 72nd at 76-79--155.
Tulsa also shot the best team round of the day with an 11-under-par 277 in today's second 18 holes, after posting a seven-over-par 295 total in the morning round. Inglis also recorded the best individual round of the day with a 5-under-par 67 in his second round of the day.
