HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Golden Eagle Shane Rushing took home medalist honors after shooting an 11-under 205 (66-71-68) in the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate Tournament, held at the Hattiesburg Country Club. Southeastern Louisiana (285-277-290 -- 852) also held on to its leader position, finishing two strokes ahead of McNeese State (278-293-283 -- 854) and five strokes ahead of Wichita State (291-279-287 -- 857) and Southern Miss (284-287-286 -- 857).
Jacksonville's Andy Allen finished as the individual runner-up, shooting 69-72-68 -- 209. Southeastern's Steven Tilley (72-68-72 -- 212) and Brett Bergeron (70-71-71 -- 212) shared third place with Wichita State's John May who collected today's top score of 67, finishing the tournament with 71-74-67 -- 212. The top five golfers were named to the all-tournament team.
Justin Emil placed 21st, shooting 72-70-77 -- 219 and finishing second on the Southern Miss squad. Michael Soroka tied for 25th, carding 79-71-72 -- 222 and sharing the rank with Ben Snow who scored 69-75-78 -- 222. Justin Elliott finished the tournament on a good note, scoring a 69 today. He tied for 36th with 77-78-69 -- 224.
Matt Wofford also shot 69 and led all individual golfers with a share of sixth place, scoring 70-75-69 -- 214. Danny Dennis tied for 17th with 72-70-76 -- 218, and Jon Borne tied for 25th with 75-73-74 -- 222. Will Taylor tied for 39th and scored 77-74-74 -- 225.
