Story Named Conference USA Co-Player of the Week
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss sophomore guard Allison Story was named Conference USA Co-Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 9, after leading the Lady Eagles to two victories during the week.
The 5-10, Frankfort, Ky., tallied a then-career-high 18 points in a 62-53 victory over DePaul, and then had a 19-point output in an 82-79 overtime victory over Marquette. Story connected on 22-of-28 from the free throw line, including eight-for-eight against DePaul in the second half and seven-of-eight in the last 1:05 of the overtime period against Marquette, sealing both wins.
In two games, she averaged 18.5 points and 4.0 rebounds, while shooting 50 percent from the field (7-of-14) and 78.6 percent from the line. She has played in all 21 games with 13 starts, averaging 5.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. She has scored double-figures in three of her last four games.
She is the first Southern Miss player to earn player of the week honors this season.
