Lady Eagles Gain Experience With Early Scrimmage
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Lady Eagle basketball team held a controlled scrimmage Saturday morning against West Alabama, and according to Head Coach Rick Reeves, it was a valuable experience for the Lady Eagles.
?This was exactly what we needed,? Reeves said. ?This type of scrimmage gives us an opportunity to look at different situations against someone other than ourselves. This was definitely a learning experience for us.?
Reeves was quick to point out outstanding performances by two freshmen, Michelle Poindexter and Deondra Carter. Both players had solid performances on both ends, shooting over .500 each and controlling the defensive boards.
Seniors Lana Lewis, Tierra Lassiter and Marlena Lee played well. Lewis appeared fully recovered from an ankle injury that shortened her season last year.
Southern Miss will play an exhibition game against the Premier Players, Nov. 13, at
