Lady Eagle Basketball Team Inks Fifth Player HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
Foley, a 5-11 forward, played for the Irish Junior Women under-20 team that competed in the European qualifer in Portugal in July, averaging 7.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Her teams competed against England, Portugal, Italy, Spain and Holland. She received the Irish School Girl of the Year in 2001 and Player of the Year in 2003 at the National Basketball Awards. She was a member of the 2002 European 18-under champions in 2002 and averaged 6.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
She played for her prep team Loreto Secondary, where she averaged 25 points and 28 rebounds per game and helped her team win three-straight Lenster Province championships. She also played for the club team, Drimnagh Dynamo's, in the Women's National League in Inichicore, Dublin. She was the team's youngest member and led the team in scoring.
"Emer is considered the top player under the age of 20 in the nation in Ireland," Reeves said. "We are extremely pleased taht Emer chose Southern Miss as she will bring a wealth of international experience to our program. Along with Lotte (Hulshof) of Holland, Emer is the second player on the roster with international experience. She was eighth in rebounding and said it was her dream to play Division I basketball in America."
