Lady Eagle Basketball Team Signs Wisconsin Prep Star
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -
Southern Miss women's basketball Head Coach Rick Reeves announced the signing of Wisconsin standout, Elizabeth Biland of Racine, to the National-Letter of-Intent and grant-in-aid on the second day of the early signing period.Biland, a 6-2 center from The Prairie School, averaged 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds as a junior for Coach Melody Owsley. She was named first team all county as a junior. She received first team all-conference honors for two straight seasons. She was selected as one of the states "sensational seniors" by the Wisconsin Women's Basketball Yearbook. Her team was the regional champions and finished the 2002-03 season with a 23-2 record. She played AAU basketball for the Wisconsin Wildcats for Coach Ralph Berry.
"Liz's parents are most likely the biggest Brett Favre fans in the state of Wisconsin," Reeves said. "Liz has played for one of the best high school coaches in the country. My staff and I have the utmost confidence that Coach Melody Owsley will prepare Liz for the major college game. With her size, range and ability to move between forward and post, Liz's future here is very bright."
Southern Miss signed three players on the first day that included Kelsey Gurganus, a 5-9, guard of Indianapolis, Ind., Jenae Jackson, 6-0, Forward of Centreville, Miss., and Shannon Stueber, a 5-11, forward of The Colony, Texas.
