Southern Miss Inks Third Baseball Recruit Of Early Signing Period
"I'm very pleased that Nathan has decided to attend Southern Miss," Palmer said. "He will add left-handed power and depth to our outfield. He is very athletic and should be able to make a contribution early on."
Sanders hit .302 as a freshman at Meridian CC last year and finished with six doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and drove in 35 runs. He was named to the Mississippi-Louisiana All-Conference team.
This marks the third signee of the early signing period for the Golden Eagles. Southern Miss is coming off a successful 36-22 season in 2002 and finished 18-11 in Conference USA action. The Golden Eagles return seven starters and 17 letterwinners for the 2003 season. They open their season against McNeese State on Feb. 14, at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field at 3 p.m.
