Lady Eagles Host Nationally Ranked Texas Tech

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss tries to get back on the winning track, when the Lady Eagles host No. 10/8 Texas Tech. This is the third meeting between the two teams and the series is tied at 1-1.

The Lady Eagles are coming off a disappointing 51-48 loss at McNeese State (12/20), to end the break. Southern Miss had no players score in double-digits. Lana Lewis, Tierra Lassiter and La'Tasha Sumerall scored eight points, each. Dana Jones pulled down six rebounds.

Jones continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game. Sonja Brown leads the team in rebounding (8.3 rpg) and blocks (4.1). Brown ranks fourth in the nation in blocked shots. Marlena Lee leads the team in assists with 32.

Following the Texas Tech game, Southern Miss hosts Centenary, Dec. 30, to end the 2002 portion of its schedule.
