HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss women's basketball Head Coach Rick Reeves and his staff announced the signing of Georgia standout Kim Rigg of Alpharetta, Ga., to a National Letter of Intent and Grant-in-Aid agreement today, during the early signing period.
Rigg, a 6-2 forward/center, plays for South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga., where she averaged 9.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as a junior. She helped lead her team to four state appearances, including three Sweet 16. She was an all-county and all-conference selection last season. She blocked a school record 83 shots as a junior. She helped lead her team to the region 7-AAA runnerup in 2001.
"Kim is a very athletic player," Reeves said. "She brings outstanding credentials to Southern Miss. She is an excellent student and a very bright young lady. She is another post player who can step out and shoot from the preimeter or go inside. We expect her to come in and play the four, or five position. Kim is the type of player who can give us a lot of versatility.
"Our main focus was to sign post players and I feel like we had a good recruiting year," Reeves continued. "By positions, we were able to get three of our first choices."
