Men's Tennis Team Downs UNO, 4-2
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's tennis team posted its third straight win, defeating the University of New
Orleans, 4-2, at the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles evened its record at 6-6.
Southern Miss clinched the match when Uwe Gneiting defeated Anders Oding, in three sets, after being down one set to
none, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5. Miikka Kangas won the No. 1 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, over Peter Szczepanski. Daniel
Homedes followed with a win at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Sebatien Locatelli. Homedes battled back from 5-2 to
take the second set, 7-5.
UNO won two of the last four matches. Mathias Werren rallied from one set down to win No. 4 singles in three sets, 3-6,
6-4, 6-4, over Abedin Sham. UNO took the No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Viktor Loven defeated David Jansson, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1 at
No. 3, Mike Chkroun defeated Konsta Finnila, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 4. Doubles were not played.
Southern Miss returns to action on Friday, March 23, against Spring Hill College. The match is set for 2 p.m. at Tatum Park.
