More Golden Eagles Receive Postseason Honors
Chad Williams, a first-team All-Conference USA selection by the league coaches and media, was recently named to the Football News Honorable-Mention All-American team and the All-Conference USA teams by The Sporting News and Football News.
Williams finished as the Golden Eagles fifth-leading tackler with 63 tackles, including 46 solo stops, two quarterback sacks, four tackles for loss, an interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and broke up seven passes. Williams holds the school record for forced fumbles in a season and in a career.
Rod Davis, already named to The Sporting News Fourth-Team All-America team and a first-team All-Conference USA selection by the league coaches and media, was selected to the All-Conference USA teams by The Sporting News, Football News and CollegeFootball.com. He led the Golden Eagles in tackles with 94, including 63 solo tackles, three quarterback sacks, nine tackles for loss, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and four pass breakups. He was also tabbed as the 13th best player in Conference USA by CollegeFootball.com.
Greg Brooks, a first-team All-Conference USA selection by the league's coaches and media, was named All-Conference USA by The Sporting News. He finished as the school's single-season pass breakup leader with 18, breaking Patrick Surtain's 1997 record of 16. He finished in tie for the team lead for interceptions with three and also had 32 total tackles, including 25 solo stops and a quarterback sack.
Torrin Tucker was named to the All-Conference USA team by Football News. He is a two-year starter at the strong-side guard position. He helped the offense average 26 points a contest and 323.8 yards a game.
Williams and Roy Magee, a second-team All-Conference USA selection by the league's coaches and media, have been invited to participate in the Kelly Tires Blue-Gray Game on Christmas Day.
