Megan Griffith joins the Southern Miss softball staff as an assistant coach, bringing Division I head coaching experience and oversight of infield development to Natalie Poole's staff, while also assisting across multiple areas of the program.

Griffith comes to Hattiesburg after a four-year stint as Morehead State's head coach. The Eagles tallied their second-highest team batting average in 11 years and their most home runs in nine years during the 2026 season, building on significant offensive improvements in 2025. Under Griffith, Morehead State collected more triples than in any year since 2017; posted fewer strikeouts, more runs, hits, and walks than in any year since 2016; produced more RBI than any season since 2013 and more doubles than any season since 2009.

Griffith inherited the Savannah State program just one week before the 2022 season began and helped the Tigers claim a spot in their conference tournament for only the second time in program history. Her team set the school's stolen base record and clubbed the second-most home runs in program history, and the most since 2016.

Prior to that, Griffith served two seasons (2020–2021) as an assistant coach for infielders and hitters at George Mason. After a 2020 season cut short by COVID-19, she helped the Patriots to their first winning season since 2014 in 2021. Her instruction helped the team rank in the top 20 nationally in batting average for three straight weeks, and George Mason finished 24th nationally in stolen bases. The Patriots opened 8-0, their best start since 1983, while also setting the school record for fielding percentage and posting their best season-ending batting average since 2016 and highest slugging percentage since 2015. Griffith also helped improve the program's RPI by nearly 50 points and helped sign the nation's No. 66-ranked recruiting class.

Griffith began her full-time coaching career at UC San Diego, serving as assistant coach during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Her teams built toward the 2019 squad's conference regular-season title, NCAA West Regional and Super Regional championships, and berth in the Division II NCAA Championship. As head hitting instructor starting in 2018, she improved the Tritons' batting average from .283 to .311 and coached Second-Team All-American Sherriah Harrington. As lead pitching coach in 2019, her staff earned five conference awards, including First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-West Region honors, and recorded the program's first no-hitter and five shutouts. As infield instructor, she helped UCSD improve its fielding percentage by 14 points.

Griffith began her collegiate playing career at McNeese State before transferring to Gulf Coast (Fla.) State College, where she led her team in home runs, doubles, slugging percentage, and RBI. She finished her playing career with a two-year stint at Middle Tennessee State. The Erwin, Tenn., native had a decorated high school career at Science Hill in Johnson City, Tenn., earning three-time Big 8 Conference Player of the Year honors.

Griffith earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Middle Tennessee State in 2016 and holds a master's degree in sport management from George Mason.
