Darian Mack joined the Southern Miss volleyball staff as an assistant coach in January 2020.
"We are extremely excited that Darian will be joining our staff," Radecki said. "She brings a wealth of experience as a player at an extremely high level. Darian used that experience to help her transition into the coaching profession. Combining that with her passion and energy for the game will be a huge asset to our program."
Mack joins Southern Miss after spending a year at North Carolina State as a volunteer assistant coach. The Raleigh, N.C. native brings a wealth of knowledge to the program after playing collegiate volleyball at Kentucky. The former Wildcat amassed a 100-28 record as an outside hitter for Kentucky from 2014-17. Mack ranks 10th in Kentucky's single-season record book with 363 kills during her sophomore campaign and ranks eighth all-time in career kills with 802. Mack finished her career as a four-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Award recipient for excellence in the classroom and athletics.
"I'm thrilled to join the staff and program here at Southern Miss," Mack said upon her hiring. "I'd like to thank Coach Radecki and Coach McCall, as well as the Southern Miss administration for the opportunity. I am excited to get to campus and start spring training, as well as being a part of something that the USM community will be proud of on and off the court."
After earning her undergraduate degree in Information Communication Technology, Mack joined Liigaploki Phitipudas of the Finnish League. Playing against Denmark in the Central European Volleyball Championships, Mack was named MVP of the match.
