Patosha Jeffery joined the Lady Eagles basketball staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2018.
Jeffery's guidance of the Lady Eagles' guard play helped to produce Domonique Davis' second First-Team All-Conference Award. She also closely mentored Lady Eagle newcomers Lani Cornfield and Jacorriah Bracey, allowing the duo to enjoy career seasons in supporting roles for the Lady Eagles' 2022-23 season. Southern Miss enjoyed its best season since 2016-17, finished 21-10 and 13-5 in Sun Belt Conference play to earn a share of the regular season title.
In her fourth season, Jeffery helped the Lady Eagles finished with their best win percentage since the 2016-17 season, as the team finished 18-12 on the year, reaching the Conference USA tournament quarterfinals. Transfer Domonique Davis took home Conference USA Newcomer of the Year honors and First-Team All-Conference, while Melyia Grayson took home Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
During the 2020-21 season, Melyia Grayson took home Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors and the Lady Eagles picked up a huge road win at Middle Tennessee with Jeffrey having the scout for the contest.
In the 2019-20 season, Jeffery helped coach the team to a 15-15 season. Shonte Hailes earned a preseason honor and fellow senior Respect Leaphart picked up a postseason accolade. Both would also score their 1,000th career points during the season. The team made it to the Conference USA tournament once again, but fell in an overtime battle with Marshall.
In her first season with the Lady Eagles in 2018-19, she helped the team overcome obstacles and adversity to finish at 18-14 and 8-9 in Conference USA. The Lady Eagles would defeat both Western Kentucky and Marshall on the road, go to the Conference USA Championships and experience a postseason berth in the WBI. One Lady Eagle in Megan Brown scored her 1,000th career point, and Shonte Hailes earned both preseason and postseason accolades from the conference.
Jeffery, who played for Joye Lee-McNelis at Memphis from 1995-1997 is the founder of a girls' basketball performance development company called Patosha Jeffery Basketball. The company is dedicated to helping players understand basketball in order to play at a high level and possibly at the collegiate level. Since 2002, she has worked with girls basketball players as a coach or host of basketball training clinics, camps, leagues and exposure events. She is also the founder of Memphis Girls Basketball, a website focused on bringing awareness to the Memphis area player's performances and success.
At Memphis, Jeffery competed in two NCAA Tournaments with the Tigers in 1996 and 1997. She was also a member of the inaugural Conference USA Championship team in 1996 and Regular Season Conference USA Tri-Champions in 1997. She led the 1996-97 team in FT% at .790, shares the record for sophomore single game three-point FG% at .833 and is the fifth-most in single season three-point FG% with .405.
In 2016, Jeffery became the first women's basketball player to have her jersey retired at her alma mater, Hamilton High School, in Memphis, Tenn.
She has written four books for female basketball players: "Girls Basketball Beginners Guide", "101 Girls Basketball Motivational Quotes", "How to Increase Your Confidence in Girls Basketball", and "How to Become a Pure Shooter".
Jeffery earned her BBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Memphis in 1999 and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
