Mulvany was named Assistant Coach for the Golden Eagles Softball Program in July of 2019.
From 2011-2019, Mulvany served as the President and Head Coach of Scout Softball. Mulvany founded the company in 2011 and it has served as a revolutionary digital scouting platform used by the majority of college softball programs. The company also plays a vital role in player development for college prospects, having helped over 2,000 prospects reach the collegiate level.
Before founding Scout Softball, Mulvany served as the Director of Softball Operations for D-BAT Inc. from 2009-2010. Now the largest indoor baseball and softball training franchise in the world, Mulvany helped increase the softball membership at the company’s flagship location 600% during his first month with the company, eventually helping bring hundreds of new softball players and families to D-BAT.
In 2005, Mulvany opened the Southlake Softball Academy in Southlake, Texas, which was the first teaching facility in North Texas solely dedicated to fastpitch softball. The business flourished as Mulvany managed to generate a monthly membership of 150 players.
Throughout his coaching career, Mulvany has worked with some of the top players in the game including: Caitlin Lowe (Team USA/Arizona), Vonnie Martin (Fresno State), Chaley Brickey (Kansas/NPF), Taylor Ellsworth (Texas) and Ivie Drake (Georgia State).
Mulvany’s previous experience also includes serving as an associate scout for the Colorado Rockies organization under scouting director Jeff Edwards and teaching softball lessons under the direction of MLB veteran Ray Burris.
Colorado Rockies scouting director Jeff Edwards on Mulvany
“Mark is well rooted in the things needed to build a championship program both on and off the field. His character as a person, as a leader and his loyalty are well respected in his personal and professional communities. They really glow with his family, his beliefs and with his passion. Mark single-handedly built the top softball recruiting and instructional organization in amateur softball. He believes in the value of communication, relationships and taking initiative with the overall student-athlete. I am excited for Mark, his family and Southern Miss. What a wonderful hire for the female athletes in the program. He will represent the program with class.”
Mulvany played collegiate baseball at Eastfield College (1999-2000) and Sam Houston State (2000). He earned First Team All-Conference honors in 1999 and was also named a First Team All-Texas and New Mexico Regional Team selection.
Mulvany is married to his wife, Candace and they have two sons, Boston and Ellington.
