HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss senior outfielder Madeline Moody has been named to the All-Sun Belt Community Service Team, the league office announced Monday. Student-athletes must serve with non-profit organizations or have a clearly beneficial impact on the community to be eligible.Â
Moody has been a steady presence with the Golden Eagles throughout her career. Her leadership goes beyond the diamond in helping the Southern Miss softball team earn campus wide recognition for community service.Â
Moody served as her team's representative as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) where she played a key role in tracking and organizing community outreach efforts. The Southern Miss softball team received the 2025 SAAC Talon Awards Community Impact Award, with Moody at the helm, logging a total 1,218 hours of community service. The award is given to the team with the most community service hours among all Southern Miss athletic programs.Â
Furthermore, Moody participated in a wide range of initiatives and events herself. Her involvement consisted of Read Across America, Suicide Awareness Month, Trick or Treat at the Pete, and collecting canned goods for the USM Food Pantry. She also volunteered her time at youth softball camps, where she mentored aspiring players.Â
Her contributions reflect the values of the SAAC Talon Awards program in helping to give back to the local Hattiesburg community while also bringing honor to Southern Miss.Â
