Judson Golf Facility
The Southern Miss men's and women's golf teams now have a state-of-the-art golf facility-one that should help them hone their skills and allow them to compete on a national level.
There is a putting green that is mainly for the team to practice short, long, breaking and straight putts. There's capacity for fifteen people to be on that green at one time putting. Also, there is an approach that extends about 80 yards to a large green that's mainly meant for chipping and pitching. Along that green are bunkers with varying depths, where you can hit to flags that are 30 to 40 yards away. You can hit any shot out of the bunker that you need to.
The teams are also utilizing the existing green that gives us a third opportunity for wedges and chipping as well.
However, this was just the first phase of a two-step process that will help the Golden Eagle golf teams become not only one of the top teams in Sun Belt Conference, but the country as well.
Phase II consists of two hitting bays with state of the art video analysis, where the coaches and players will be able to break down their swings step-by-step; both women's and men's locker rooms, as well as offices for both head coaches and assistants. Finally, a club repair room, player's lounge, and conference room will be included in the second phase.
The Hattiesburg Country Club has one of the best Championship Golf Courses in the south, made even better by a recent renovation. Since its establishment in 1959, the course has hosted many prominent and nationally recognized golf events. The tree lined par 72 course measures 6902 from the Tour Tees with a slope rating of 131.
