Johnson Named to All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team

NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss women's basketball graduate student guard Jakayla Johnson earned All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team honors as announced by the Sun Belt Conference Monday afternoon.
Johnson, a native of Clinton, Miss., played in all 30 games in her first year with the Lady Eagles and leads Southern Miss with 15.3 points per game, 41 steals and a 37.4 three-point percentage. She scored in double-figures in 23 contests with three 30-plus point performances, including a season-high 32 in the season finale against ULM.
She was named to the Sun Belt Conference Preseason First Team the ahead of the 2025-26 season for second time in her career. Johnson now owns three All-Sun Belt Conference selections in her three-year career in the league, previously earning First Team honors in 2024-25 and Third Team honors in 2023-24.
Johnson and the Lady Eagles will open the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday, March 5, against a to-be-determined opponent at 2 p.m. in Pensacola, Fla.
