3/2/2026 2:00:00 PM | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS -- Southern Miss junior forward Tylik Weeks was named First Team All-Sun Belt on Monday afternoon, as voted on by the league coaches.Â
The New York, New York native averaged 18.8 points per game on the season and 20.1 points per game in league play. Both ranked him second in the Sun Belt behind Chaze Harris (South Alabama), who was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year. Weeks averaged 5.8 rebounds per game in 30 contests and averaged 5.3 rebounds in 18 conference games.Â
Weeks scored in double figures 28 times, including a stretch of 21-straight games. That run is the second-longest stretch by a Golden Eagle in program history, as Wendell Ladner had a stretch of 22-straight games (Dec. 7, 1968 - Dec. 1, 1969). He produced 14 20-point games and had a pair of 30-point games. His first was a 37-point performance against North Florida at the Pensacola Invitational, then he went for 32 points against Troy on Feb. 14. In the Troy game, Weeks scored 16 consecutive points for Southern Miss and had 28 of 36 points in a stretch during the second half. Thirty of his points against the Trojans came in the second half, which made him the first player in school history to have 30 points in a single half that didn't include overtime.
He posted double-doubles against Ole Miss and Kent State, going for a career-high 11 rebounds in the MAC-SBC win over the Golden Flashes. Weeks shot the ball at a 47 percent clip this season, which ranked seventh in league play, and shot 82 percent from the free-throw line in league play. Weeks was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week on Nov. 25 after scoring 37 points off the bench versus North Florida and then posted 14 points and seven rebounds in the title game against UT Martin, which the Golden Eagles won
Weeks led the league in both free throws made and free throw attempts. His 18.8 points per game is the highest scoring average for Southern Miss since Gary Flowers averaged 18.8 points per game during the 2010-11 season. The last Golden Eagle to average more than that was Elvin Mims when he averaged 18.9 points per game during the 2001-02 season.
Weeks and the Golden Eagles open the 2026 Sun Belt Tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m. Southern Miss will play in the third round against either James Madison, Louisiana, or Georgia State.Â
