Golden Eagles Matched Up With Buffalo for Men's Basketball MAC-SBC Challenge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â The Southern Miss men's basketball team will square off against Buffalo as part of the third annual men's basketball MAC-SBC Challenge.
The Golden Eagles and Bulls will meet at Alumni Arena in Buffalo, New York on Monday, Nov. 3. The meeting is the second-ever between the two programs and the first since the Golden Eagles won 77-71 on Dec. 28, 1995.Â
Southern Miss is 2-2 all-time in the MAC-SBC Challenge, including a pair of wins at Reed Green Coliseum against Western Michigan and Bowling Green. The Golden Eagles are 0-2 on the road with losses at Akron and Ball State. This is the second-straight year where the MAC-SBC Challenge marks the season opener.Â
The challenge consists of 13 games — Georgia Southern will not participate this year due to the MAC having one fewer team. First round matchups are determined by final NET rankings from the 2024-25 season, with the MAC hosting the first-round games in November. The second round will be determined by live NET rankings at a later date in the season with Sun Belt schools hosting.
Games times and television designations will be announced at a later date.Â
