HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â Addie Siders has accumulated quite the haul of prep soccer awards in recent years as a standout midfielder at Sumrall High School. To no surprise, Siders picked up another one recently as she was named the Mississippi Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the second time in as many seasons.Â
The 5-foot-7 defensive-minded midfielder ended her high school career with 345 points, including 87 goals and 84 assists. She helped Sumrall to a third-round appearance in the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs and was named the Region 7 Class 4A Player of the Year. All this was done less than 20 miles from the Southern Miss Soccer Complex, so it's no surprise to why she wanted to be a Golden Eagle.Â

"I chose to attend Southern Miss because it truly felt like home," Siders said. "My family has deep roots there, and I've grown up hearing stories and experiencing the pride they have at Southern Miss. Beyond the personal connection, I felt a strong sense of calling and peace about my decision."
The six-year starter for Sumrall has been tearing up the Pine Belt for years and now she aims to do that donning the Golden Eagles' logo. Siders notes that she's most excited to play for Southern Miss because she gets to stay close to home but also playing in the same community that has supported her for so long.Â
Siders has been playing soccer for as long as she can remember as it has played a huge role in her life. The ultra versatile midfielder sites that she has been called to push herself at the collegiate level on and off the pitch.Â
"I have played soccer for as long as I can remember and it has played a huge part in my life," Siders said. "I felt called to keep pushing myself at the collegiate level, not only to continue doing what I love, but to represent something bigger than myself — my team and my school."

Now as she turns her attention to Southern Miss, the goal remains the same for herself and the team. She wants to win and knows how to win.Â
"My personal goal at Southern Miss is to grow both as a player and a person," Siders said. "I want to push myself every day to get stronger, faster, and smarter on the field, while also being a positive, coachable, and a good teammate.Â
"Ultimately as a team, I want to be part of something bigger than myself and help create a team that fights for each other every single game."
