HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss baseball team plays host to Tulane Tuesday night for the first of two home midweek games this week at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
The game can be seen via ESPN+, as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.
The Golden Eagles (27-13) entertain Tulane for the second time this season after capturing a 13-6 decision over the Green Wave 13-6 on April 1. Southern Miss used an eight-run first to pull ahead and hold off Tulane (24-17) for the seventh-straight victory in the series.
The Golden Eagles also play host to Southeastern Louisiana for Youth Sports Night Wednesday. That game starts at 6 p.m. as well.
Southern Miss comes off a series victory over the weekend with Georgia State in which they captured two of three games and hit 12 home runs in the process. The team now has 67 for the campaign which puts them No. 16 in the country for home run total and No. 19 in homers per game at 1.68 through Sunday's games.
Both Nick Monistere and Carson Paetow lead the way for the squad in round-trippers with 14 apiece. Monistere currently has the team's best hitting streak at seven games and has seen his season average rise from .295 to .335 over that span. He has also driven in 21 runs during that time, which gives him the team lead for that category with 49.
Paetow recorded his team-best fifth two-home run game on Saturday against the Panthers and drove in five runs as well to now have 42 RBI of his own.
Jake Cook continues to lead the team in batting average with a .354 average, which includes a team-best 19 infield hits.
