Track and Field Soars to Ten First-Place Finishes at South Alabama Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southern Miss men's and women's indoor track and field teams combined for 10 first-place finishes at the South Alabama Invitational on Sunday in Birmingham. The Golden Eagle women secured the team title with 116.33 points, while the men finished third with 68 points.
The women's team recorded seven first-place finishes among 15 top-three performances. Addison McLaurin won the 400 meters in 55.51 seconds. Trinity Benson claimed the 60-meter title in 7.50 seconds, with Taliyah Lindsay finishing third (7.54). Lindsay also won the 200 meters in 24.26, followed by Trinity Flagler in second (24.29) and Valencia Watson in third (24.44). Sierra Edwards placed second in the 60-meter hurdles, while Jaellene Burgess finished runner-up in the 800 meters (2:14.70). In field events, Alana Simon cleared 1.69 meters to win the high jump, and Sidney Allen took first in the long jump with a mark of 5.53 meters. Za'Isha Fraser won the triple jump at 12.21 meters, with Joidon Boddie placing second (11.84m). The women's squad earned 20 top-eight finishes overall.
On the men's side, Gracious Ushie won the 60 meters in 6.70 seconds. Zayne Palomino claimed the high jump title with a clearance of 2.20 meters. De'Aundre Ward secured first place in the long jump (7.23m), while Tyler Nichols finished third (7.03m). Piers Cameron placed second in the shot put (17.83m), and Clemon Jimerson took third in the triple jump (14.09m). Conner Mozee finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 18.33 meters. The men's team posted 10 top-eight finishes.
