Track and Field Posts 15 Personal Bests on Day One of Sun Belt Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Fifteen Southern Miss track and field athletes set personal bests on the opening day of the Sun Belt Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex, with two Golden Eagles reaching the podium.
De'Aundre Ward secured a third-place finish in the men's long jump with a season-best mark of 7.37 meters, while Maria Kaylor claimed bronze in the women's 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 16:49.84.
The Southern Miss women's team sits sixth in the standings out of 13 teams, while the men's squad is sixth among seven.

The Sun Belt Championships continue Tuesday as Southern Miss looks to climb the leaderboard on the final day, as the Women's high jump kicks off at 11:15 am and finishes with the men's 4x400 relay at 4:40 p.m.
