NEW ORLEANS – The Southern Miss football team went through a busy Saturday enjoying a day service in the community while also going through a two-hour practice in advance of the 25th New Orleans Bowl set for the Caesars Superdome Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles, which are set to play WKU from Conference USA, will be televised nationally via ESPN, as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network.
The day started for newly hired Southern Miss coach Blake Anderson's squad by separating into three groups to enjoy a day of service in New Orleans. One group went to Second Harvest to help put food boxes together for area families, while another group handed out toys at the Heroes of New Orleans. The third group went to The ARC of Greater New Orleans.
After returning to the downtown team hotel following the morning day of service, the Golden Eagles went through afternoon meetings before traveling West to Metairie for a two-hour late-afternoon workout at the Saints indoor practice facility.
Southern Miss will practice again on Sunday and then participate in a walkthrough Monday in the Caesars Superdome in their final two sessions prior to its 28th all-time bowl appearance.
Tickets for the game are still available for the contest and can be purchased by clicking here.
