Lady Eagles Draw Ohio for MAC-SBC Challenge

NEW ORLEANS – The pairings for the second round of games of the 2024-25 edition of the MAC-SBC Challenge were announced today by both the Mid-American Conference and Sun Belt Conference. Southern Miss women's basketball will host Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 8, as part of the intra-conference clash.
The last time Southern Miss and Ohio met came on Nov. 23, 1984, in Cookeville, Tenn. The Lady Eagles defeated the Bobcats 95-76 to advance to the championship game of the Tennessee Tech Classic.
Southern Miss is 3-2 all-time against MAC opponents after dropping the first round of the MAC-SBC Challenge at Bowling Green earlier this season. The Lady Eagles have played Akron (1-0), Bowling Green (0-1), Buffalo (0-1), Eastern Michigan (1-0) and Ohio (1-0). Southern Miss is 2-0 against MAC teams at home, clipping Akron last season and defeating Eastern Michigan in the 2015 Postseason WNIT.

Celebrating 50 Seasons of Southern Miss Women's Basketball
The 2024-25 season of Southern Miss Lady Eagle Basketball marks a major milestone for the program and for The University of Southern Mississippi as the women's basketball program celebrates its 50th season of competition. Following the adoption of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Southern Miss added women's basketball and women's tennis as official athletic programs beginning in the 1975-76 season. Since then, the Lady Eagles have laid out five decades of excellence on and off the court. To celebrate this golden jubilee, Southern Miss women's basketball will host its 50th Season Celebration and Reunion on Saturday, January 18, against South Alabama at Reed Green Coliseum.
