Cross Country Opens Season at Azalea City Classic

MOBILE, Ala.—The Southern Miss Cross Country team opens its season at the Azalea City Classic in Mobile, Ala., on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m.

All 10 athletes on the team's roster will compete in the 5k race in Langan Park.

Four of those athletes are returners from the 2023 season, including Emme Bates,
Sarah Parnell, Kristina Stojanovic, and Sylvia White.

This year, six are new to the roster, including Lexi Cooper, Corinne Croy, Kaylin Jackson, Maria Kaylor, Olivia Smith and Sophie West.

Kaylor, a transfer from West Virginia, joins as a graduate student, bringing previous collegiate experience to the team.

Entering the season, the Golden Eagles have been selected seventh in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches' poll for the 2024 season.

The last time the Golden Eagles attended the Azalea City Classic, the team posted a fourth-place finish with 79 points in 2015.
