Southern Miss Volleyball Announces 2024 Slate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss Volleyball head coach Jenny Hazelwood today announced the complete 2024 schedule for the Golden Eagles. The slate consists of 28 regular seasons contests with nonconference highlights including three games as part of a home tournament and clashes with in-state Mississippi State and Jackson State. Southern Miss will play 16 Sun Belt contests with eight conference matches at the Wellness Center.
"Our team is eager and prepared to showcase our hard work this offseason," said third-year head coach Jenny Hazelwood. "We have a great schedule that provides opportunities for Southern Miss volleyball to grow and learn. With many returning starters and great new additions, the Golden Eagles are going to be fun to watch!"
Before the 2024 season officially begins, Southern Miss will host its annual Black & Gold Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Wellness Center.
The regular season begins with the 2024 Southern Miss Invitational from Aug. 30-31. The Golden Eagles welcome Northwestern State, Jacksonville and Southern for the two-day event with Southern Miss playing Northwestern State and Jacksonville on Friday, Aug. 30, and Southern on Saturday, Aug. 31.
After the home tournament, the Golden Eagles will spend the month of September on the road, travelling to two more tournaments. First, Montana's Ellesyn Invitational in Missoula, Mont., from Sept. 6-7 where Southern Miss plays Utah Valley, Boise State and Montana. The Golden Eagles then travel to Macon, Ga., for the Mercer Invitational on Sept. 13 and 14 where they will take on Presbyterian, Mercer and Elon.
After finishing their tournaments, the Golden Eagles stay in the central time zone for all but their last two games of the year. On Wednesday, Sept. 18, Southern Miss travels to Jackson State before continuing to Starkville, Miss., for two games against Mississippi State on Thursday, Sept. 19, and Friday, Sept. 20.
Sun Belt Conference play begins on the road at ULM on Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28. Southern Miss returns home to take on Arkansas State on Thursday, Oct. 3, and Friday, Oct. 4, before hitting the road again to travel to Louisiana on Oct. 10-11.
Southern Miss stays home on Thursday, Oct. 17, to begin a four-game home stand beginning with two games against South Alabama and concluding on Oct. 25-26 against Old Dominion. November begins at Texas State on Nov. 1-2. The Golden Eagles' final home matches of the year are on Thursday, Nov. 7, and Friday, Nov. 8, against Troy.
The regular season concludes in Huntington, W.Va., with the last matches of the season at Marshall.
The Sun Belt Conference Tournament returns to Foley, Ala., and the Foley Sports Tourism Complex with First Round action starting on Wednesday, Nov. 20. All 14 Sun Belt programs will qualify with the Sun Belt Conference Championship set for Sunday, Nov. 24.
