HATTIESBURG, Miss.-Southern Miss Softball (15-18, 4-5 Sun Belt) returns home for a rematch against Nicholls (19-16, 6-3 Southland) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Golden Eagles lost its series at Troy last weekend, but ended the series with a dominant 10-1 victory against the Trojans Saturday.
Southern Miss tied its season-high of 13 hits for the fourth time this season in the win, as Hannah Borden led the team with three hits and Natalie Taylor, Maria Smith and Ryanna Valdivia each recorded two.
Southern Miss now hosts its first home midweek contest of the season against Nicholls, who beat the Golden Eagles 7-6 in Thibodaux, La. in March.

- Saturday's 10-1 win against Troy marked the ninth game of the season the Golden Eagles have recorded ten or more hits, the most since the 2022 season.
- Hannah Borden, who recently became the program's all-time home run record leader, blasted two solo shots against Troy Saturday. The graduate student catcher now has a career-high 12 home runs this season, which leads the Sun Belt, and trails the program's single season record by three home runs. Borden leads the team this season with 43 hits and a Sun Belt best 34 RBI, batting a .387 average.
- Designated player and pitcher Jana Lee, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week, continued to impress in the circle. Lee pitched in every game against Troy, throwing over nine innings, allowing seven hits and just two earned runs with four strikeouts. Her 1.86 ERA over the weekend paced the team and her complete game performance Saturday led Southern Miss to the win against Troy.
- Four Golden Eagles drew two walks each against Troy, bringing Southern Miss' season total to 121, which ranks second in the Sun Belt.

- Nicholls is led by third-year head coach Justin Lewis, who is the reigning Southland Conference Coach of the Year.
- The Colonels enter the week with a 19-16 record with a fourth-place standing (4-5) in the Southland Conference after winning its series at Lamar. Nicholls won against Lamar 4-1 after 13 innings and 3-2 Friday afternoon before dropping the series finale in the second game of a doubleheader 2-0.
- Nicholls beat the Golden Eagles earlier this season on March 20 at Swanner Field. Southern Miss fought back from a four-run deficit late in the game, but left fielder Mckenzie Champagne hit a leadoff solo home run to win 7-6. Champagne led the Colonels with four hits, three runs and three RBI in the match.
- Reagan Heflin leads the Colonels with 31 hits, followed by Molly VandenBout's 29 hits and team-high five home runs on a .315 batting average.
- Audrey McNeill leads Nicholls' pitching staff with a 2.29 ERA through 98 innings pitched, allowing just 32 earned runs to 73 strikeouts. Molly Yoo also has thrown 75 innings, posting a 3.07 ERA.
