Men's and Women's Tennis Back in Action for Senior Day

HATTIESBURG. Miss. – Southern Miss men's (7-8, 3-3 Sun Belt) and women's (4-12, 0-8 Sun Belt) tennis wraps up its home slate of matches this weekend as both teams host senior day on Saturday morning at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex. The men's team will also host Georgia State (8-12, 3-3 Sun Belt) on Sunday. Both matches will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The men's team hosts Georgia Southern (11-8, 5-1 Sun Belt) on Saturday, while the women's team plays South Alabama (8-10, 3-4 Sun Belt). As part of senior day, Southern Miss will honor departing players Suhana Das, Olimjon Nabiev, Shamirul Shahril, Pasawee Reansuwong and Pawin Jirapoomdaje.
Das ends her Southern Miss career with 17 wins in dual action and has over 25 wins in doubles play. She was named Second Team All-Conference USA as a freshman after going 6-1. On the men's side, Nabiev caps is Golden Eagle career with 34 wins since 2020 and has won at least nine matches in each of the last three seasons.
Shahril ends his time in Hattiesburg with 17 wins and had a career-best nine wins as a sophomore. For Reansuwong, he leaves with a career-high four wins this season and has 17 wins in doubles action throughout his career. Jirapoomdaje has 18 wins and went 9-3 as a sophomore during the 21-22 season.
Senior day festivities will start at 9:50 a.m. and admission is free.
A Look at the Georgia Southern and Georgia State
Georgia Southern enters Saturday's contest with an 11-8 record overall and a 5-1 mark in Sun Belt play. The Eagles are coming off a 4-1 loss at South Alabama last Sunday and have other Sun Belt wins over Troy, Coastal Carolina, and Old Dominion. The Panthers are 8-12 overall this season and 3-3 in Sun Belt Play. They are coming off two wins against South Alabama and Troy this past weekend. Their other Sun Belt win was against James Madison.

The Jaguars head to Hattiesburg as winners in four of their last five matches. South Alabama most recently topped Georgia Southern 4-3 and Marshall a day later by the same score. They have picked up Sun Belt wins over Georgia Southern, Marshall, James Madison and Arkansas State. Elysia Pool has a team-best 14-3 record and has picked up all 14 wins on court two.
