Outdoor Track and Field Captures Two First-Place Finishes in Opening Day at South Alabama Invite

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss outdoor track and field team captured two first-place showings at the South Alabama Invite Friday in Mobile, Ala.
Kaya Ludgood won the men's hammer throw, while Jelese Alexander captured the women's high jump.
Ludgood, who recorded his first collegiate win, won with a mark of 58.60 meters while Alexander registered a leap of 1.77 meters to win her event.
Alana Simon finished second in the women's high jump with a 1.72.
The meet only ran three events on Friday due to concerns with the weather and Tyler Nichols finished second in the men's high jump, the first among collegians, with a 2.18-meter jump. Maxiumus Littleton came in fourth with a 2.08.
The meet continues Saturday with both track and field events getting started at 9 a.m. Follow the action by clicking here.
