Indoor Track and Field Competes in Final Tune-up Meet Before SBC Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Indoor Track and Field team travels to Nashville this weekend for the second time this winter as they participate in their final tune-up meet, Friday and Saturday, at Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge.
The Golden Eagles start Friday with the field events at 10:30 a.m., with the track events beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The squad has combined for 10 first-place showings through their first three meets this season. Triple jumper Za'Isha Fraser has a pair of victories, while Zayne Palomino has enjoyed success on the men's side with a win in the high jump, as well as De'Aundre Ward, who has excelled in the long jump. Ward has a Sun Belt Conference Field Athlete award as well to his credit this season.
The last time in Nashville, Southern Miss garnered four first-place finishes, including in the 60 meters men's race with Kinglsey Unorji winning with a time of 6.73. Alana Simon also won the women's high jump with a 1.67-meter mark, while Conner Mozee captured the weight throw competition with a mark of 18.78 meters.
The 4x400 men's team of Elijah Berry, Adrian Harris, Jacoby Tanner and Javel Fuller also recorded the best time of 3:11.53 to win their respective event.
Following their stop in Nashville, the Golden Eagles next travel to Birmingham, Ala., for the Sun Belt Conference meet set for Feb. 19-20.
