Sunni Sheppard Earns Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Sunni Sheppard had an exceptional weekend, delivering one of her best defensive performances of the season. Averaging 7.11 digs per set across two matches, Sheppard's ability to read the game was on full display.
In addition to reaching a career-high 36 digs, Sheppard continues to dominate in conference play, leading the Sun Belt with 367 digs and 6.6 digs per set. She holds the top three spots for the highest digs in a match this season—a testament to her consistency and skill as a defensive powerhouse.
Sheppard's leadership in the back row was pivotal in limiting Louisiana to a .144 hitting percentage, proving her value as a game-changer. Her defensive effort earned her Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors.
