Torrey Tkach Earns Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Torrey Tkach was an unstoppable force for the Golden Eagle defense, averaging 2.17 blocks per set with 13 total blocks over the team's 2-0 weekend, earning her Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Tkach played a critical role in Southern Miss' two 3-0 sweeps over ULM, helping the Golden Eagles open conference play with a 2-0 record. She averaged 2.17 blocks per set, earning 13 total blocks over the six sets. Her dominant presence at the net disrupted ULM's offense and helped Southern Miss maintain control throughout both matches.
Currently ranked third in the conference with an average of 1.28 blocks per set, Tkach's defensive efforts were vital to Southern Miss' success during the first week of conference play. Her ability to read the opponent's attack and consistently block shots was key to the team's strong start. Tkach's performance earned her Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors.
