Adaira Nakano Named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS– After aiding Southern Miss in a 6-0 shutout victory over Nicholls State with a hat trick and an assist Sunday, Adaira Nakano has been named the offensive player of the week.
"I'm extremely proud of Adaira's growth," said coach El-Zare. "This spring, she walked into my office and shared her goals. It's simple: She makes tough decisions, is intentional about the process, and puts the work in. There are no shortcuts."
Nakano played a part in four goals, sending the first goal to the back of the net within the first minute of play off a cross to the left side of the box. The second goal came in 10 minutes later with the feed from Emilie Torres. The Canada native Completed her hat trick in the 83rd minute by converting a penalty kick.
She also assisted Brooke Amos in her goal, and her seven points for the afternoon put her one point away from breaking the individual single-game program record that has stood since 1998.
