Softball Earns First Conference Win

MONROE, La.-- The Southern Miss softball team (17-17, 1-11 Sun Belt) records their first conference win against ULM (21–22, 4-9 Sun Belt) 2-0 in Monroe, La. Friday night. Morgan Leinstock picked up the win after giving up just two hits to shut out the Warhawks in the three-game series opening match up.
Leinstock (9-11) allowed just two baserunners in the first and seventh innings for her third shutout of the year and 11th for her career. This marked the Arizona natives 33rd career win. After four scoreless frames, Southern Miss scored both runs in the fifth inning when senior catcher Hannah Borden homered to left center after freshman third baseman Nealy McManus singled to left field on the first pitch and recorded her first career stolen base.
