TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--The Southern Miss track and field team wrapped up their time at the Florida State Relays in Tallahassee, Fla., with some personal bests, and a few brought home gold.
"We had a successful weekend competing against some of the top SEC and ACC teams. Leaving with a couple of nation leaders will help build some momentum as we get into the teeth of our schedule," said head coach Jon Stuart.
Transfers Omar Austin and Jared Williams had outstanding performances this weekend. On day one of the FSU relays, Austin posted a first-place finish in the 200m with a time of 20.92, followed by a second-place showing in the 400m on day two. The New Jersey native crossed the line at 45.89 to put him at the No.1 seat in the NCAA.
Williams notched first place on day two with a time of 13.97 in the 110-meter hurdles to take the No.1 seat in that event in the NCAA.
The women's squad of Trinity Flagler, Kenia Seals, Destiny Charles, and Trinity Benson topped Florida State in the four by 100 with a time of 45.21 for first place.
