HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss women's soccer team adds Victoria Clark, a winger transfer from Arizona Western College to their spring roster.
The San Luis, Arizona native played for San Luis High School and two seasons with the Arizona Western Lady Matadors before transferring to Southern Miss.
"Victoria is a prolific attacking player that does not shy away from the responsibility of taking players on and is extremely coachable, applying immediately new ideas and willing to experiment to develop as a player. We are excited to add someone who likes to have the ball and understands the work it takes before receiving it," said assistant coach J.P. Valadares.
Clark played in 14 games, making 13 starts, for the Lady Matadors as a freshman. During the 2021 season, she recorded five assists and four shots on goal. Clark made her collegiate debut in a 5-3 win over Southern Nevada in Aug. 22, recording an assist. She started the season's final seven games, including the West District championship game at Salt Lake on Nov. 6.
On and off the field, Clark has earned the following awards:
- Conference Champion 2022
- Back-to-back Region Champions 2021-22
- NJCAA Academic Third Team in 2021-22
- 8th in Conference in goals- 14 goals
- 6th in Conference in assists- 9 assists
- First Team All ACCAC
- First Team All-Region
Clark majors in Speech Pathology, where she maintains a 3.71 GPA. She says she chose Southern Miss to experience and continue her academic and athletic career in a different state than she was used to. She also wanted to challenge herself to play at a higher level.
