HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Following a strong weekend in Louisiana, the Southern Miss men's tennis team heads to Birmingham, Ala. for the CCB Collegiate Invitational. The three-day event is being held at the Country Club of Birmingham. All matches will be held on clay courts.
"We've taken great strides the last couple of weeks, and this is another great test to see where we are heading into the regular season," head coach Zubin Engineer said. "We are only traveling four guys, so I am excited to see how they will perform. The clay playing surface this weekend is something that we have not seen in a while and should provide for great tennis."
Southern Miss tabbed the following as its travel roster for the event: Henry Lamchinniah, Rasmus Becker, Shamirul Shahril and Pasawee Reansuwong. Both Lamchinniah and Becker are freshman that have provided Engineer's squad with a young spark. The field includes Alabama State, Southern Miss, Georgia State, Louisiana, North Alabama, Washington, Jacksonville State, South Alabama, UAB, College of Charleston and Tulane.
The event is broken into Blue Singles, Red Singles and Bulldog Singles -- doubles is the same order. Shahril was placed into Blue Singles, while Lamchinniah is in Red Singles. Reansuwong and Becker are in Bulldog Singles. Shahril is slated to open against David Jeanne Grandinot (Alabama State) on Friday at 9 a.m. The opening schedule can be found below.
